The case of the disappearing Quick Access Toolbar:
One of the first things I do when installing new versions of Autodesk software is setup my own versions of the standard workspaces.
Generally I open each standard workspace in turn and save it as "My" version...
i.e. I save a copy of the workspace "Map Classic" as "My Map Classic"
I can then make changes to my workspaces, but return to the defaults when running training or demonstrations etc.
However, when I now my AutoCAD Map 3D 2009, starting with "My" copies of the workspaces, the Quick Access Toolbar is missing...
This doesn't happen with AutoCAD 2009
Anyone else having this issue? or similar...

The workaround I got to work to restore it is to reset the profile in Options.

Hi Jimmy
Thanks for the workaround, unfortunately resetting the profile doesn't work for me. In fact resetting the profile results in the loss of all of my Map Workspaces (default and custom)... only the default AutoCAD workspaces are then available!... a bit confusing, maybe something to do with having AutoCAD 2009 installed alongside AutoCAD Map 3D 2009?
Anyway, I have raised the issue with Autodesk, I'll let you know the response.

It's not missing, its just empty, move some commands into it.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the comment, I posted a workaround to populate the Quick Access toolbar on 22nd May, take a look at...
http://cadit.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/05/autocad-map-3d-2009---bug-1---fix.html
This is of course a workaround not a fix, and whilst it is straightforward to populate the Quick Access toolbar, we shouldn't need to do it, perhaps Autodesk will fix this eh!
Best regards
